MR : Beasts without nation
Beasts without nation
The atrocities
of the war as narrated by a Nigerian author. Most of the African countries have
cvile wars for more than 1 century with most governments corrupted This happened to the most countries in Africa.
I still remember stories in Congo Nigeria and many other centra African countries.
I can suspect that the language used in the movie an be Hausa
or Yoruba two of the most used in Nigeria. Or Gambia as someone else noticed?
Now back to
the movie. As many mentioned in the imdb page and clearly shown in the movie the army of the new established junta a killed
the family of a young child without any significant jury and reason with a
total trivial or stupid logic :
If you
re not ours , you are with them .
This also
reminds the history of the civil war after the WII in Greece . The after
resistance troops did exactly the with people who had different political or even
monetary differences or other personal reasons but sometimes with innocent people
ie relatives of the killed.
The troop Aggu was recruited was managed by a arrogant person with a very good manipulator of poor minded people although I feel him using cheesy cheesy talks s wuitrh very wooden language until the end of the movie as none cold be effected by his methods. The reasons of fighting are neatly the same with the army’s with more emphasis that none other can really him except the troop members who are his family.
The movie
is quite long at 2 hours and surely something could be cut . really after the
2/3 pf the film I lost my interest except in the end when Agu his self analysis
.
Everything
has been done for nothing as another story member told later
Many scenes
were quite tough or brutal for anyone not previously watching movies of Tarantino or Rodriguez (machete
series for example ) which are even more violent though perfectly fake.
Beasts without
nation This is the
title of the movie told by Agu before story ends. Really being recruited for a troop makes someone
losing his interest for life and th
dedicated as a soldier without any other
meaning for his life especially when he is so young, around 9-10 years old .
Although for a African movie you expect a rather amateurish production, this movie uses an excellent equipment and filmography like it was designed by an American director
8/10
